Illuminate Light Event 2017

Celebrating the event, ‘Illuminate’, which marks the anniversary for the sailing of the Mayflower. Held at an exciting location in Plymouth’s historic grounds. I was kindly invited to this event on Royal William Yard, on the 21st for behind the scenes and again on the 24th to experience the illuminate light festival and proudly document this wonderful event.

Arriving at the rehearsals on the 21st, I was able to experience behind the scenes of the upcoming event. Firstly, all the influencers meeted and greeted whilst talking about  their personal blogs and how we approached blogging and what we aspire to do. Gradually moving on, as members of the event we were hosted a delicious meal and drinks by Las Iguanas on the yard. (Thank you Las Iguanas, the food was amazing and what a amazing vibe!!) Enabling to try out their menu for the second time, I had the vegan chilli and a mocktail, ‘Apple Mojo-Less’ which were 2 – for 1 yass! what more could you want?

Just before the rehearsal finished we looked around Ocean studios, to browse some of the preparation for Friday. Looking at an artists work, Paige Alexander, who has sucessfully created luminous strings that light up in one of the spaces which the public will be able to get a feel for on Friday. Furthermore, at the event there will be various projections on the buildings inspired by the values of Mayflower 400; freedom, humanity, imagination and future. The light projections have been designed by students from the Plymouth College Of Art, as well as students part of the European funded project Euranim, who will be collaborating with animation students from across France, Belgium, Hungary, Denmark and Finland. Along with the light projections, there will be live bands and dance performances.

Participants will be able to buy a ticket for £2 which presents you with an Xyloband where this will allow the band to synchronize with all the music on the night.

Come along from the 24th- 26th November from 6.30pm – 10pm and check Illuminate light festival 2017 out! I hope to see you there.
