After my hair being so long for as long as I can remember, yesterday I got my mop chopped. I say I got it chopped shorter, it’s not like it’s short short, just a little shorter than I would usually go for. I do not regret it at all though.
I always used to hate having short hair and could never see myself having more than an inch cut off ever again. Every time I got my hair cut when I was younger, I would insist I only got half an inch cut off whilst frantically fearing and pancking in case they cut off more than I had agreed to. I was petrified of the hairdressers and terrified of getting my hair cut too short and looking like a plum. Looking through hair styles and the inspiration from Nicole Sage chopping a lot of her hair off and looking fabulous, I bit the bullet and went shorter than usual.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved my long hair but I had so many problems with it and I didn’t realise at the time how much I actually hated those things it caused.
I would get my hair caught in zips and car doors. My hair began to thin out so much that it just looked oily all the time on my scalp. It looked frizzy and dead. My hair also was just too much to manage sometimes. No hairstyle was suitable or worked well because it was just too long. Oh and I forgot to mention the clumps of hair in my hair brush and found all over my flat in the most random places. I wonder to myself how it even got there?
I realised I never appreciated my hair. I would just get annoyed and agitated when it’s down because it would just get in my way and caught in things or I would just have it up in a bun. I never really styled it properly because it was just too long. I feel like now its shorter, I will definitely be able to style it more and try new hairstyles and I’m very excited about that.
I last had my hair cut just under a year ago at YOKE salon; they did a wonderful job but I decided to try somewhere new this time. I read some lovely reviews from Adore salon so I gave that salon a go. I am amazed; my hair looks great shorter. Why hadn’t I done this sooner? I ended up having between 7 and 8 inches off and I am totally in love with it. It already feels thicker than it was before which is great.
Adore salon is also the first vegan salon in Plymouth so next time I go I am very excited to treat myself to a shampoo and blow dry then a trim.
